Dance Movement Therapy
Where healing begins with movement
Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is the psychotherapeutic and creative use of movement to support emotional, physical, cognitive, social, and cultural wellbeing. Rooted in the understanding that the body holds our experiences, DMT offers a powerful, non-verbal path to healing and transformation.
Movement is Our First Language.
Before we had words, we communicated through the body. Movement is universal—it’s how we express emotion, form connection, and process experience. In Dance Movement Therapy, we use this natural language to explore what the body knows and remembers.
Micro or macro, every movement holds meaning. Tension in the body, blocked joints, repetitive gestures—all carry messages about our lives, our pasts, and our inner worlds. Through guided movement, we listen to what the body is saying and begin to release what no longer serves us.
What Is Dance Movement Therapy?
Dance Movement Therapy integrates:
-
The art of dance
-
Somatic awareness
-
Creative exploration
-
Psychological and scientific principles
It is both a therapeutic process and a healing intervention, designed to clarify, support, and consolidate a person’s overall functioning. Just as verbal psychotherapy uses words, DMT uses the body as the primary mode of expression and communication.
Whether you’re navigating emotional difficulties, seeking personal growth, or simply longing to reconnect with your body, Dance Movement Therapy offers a safe and creative space to do so.
Why Work With Me?
Through rhythm, movement, and presence, I guide each client toward deeper awareness, release, and self-integration. Our sessions are individually tailored and always paced according to your comfort and needs—yet gently challenge you to grow.
You don’t need any dance experience. What matters is your willingness to move, feel, and be curious about your body’s wisdom.
Sometimes, the path forward isn’t found in words—but in movement.
By reclaiming rhythm and reconnecting with our freedom to move, we begin to reclaim ourselves.
